Welcome to Capital City! Capital City is operated by a Canadian company. By accessing or using our financial literacy game and educational platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use Capital City.
For users under 18: By using Capital City, you represent that you have obtained permission from your parent or legal guardian, who has read and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
2. Description of Service
Capital City is an interactive educational platform designed to teach financial literacy to children ages 6-15. The service includes:
- Interactive games and missions teaching financial concepts
- Knowledge quizzes to test understanding
- Progress tracking (coins, Financial IQ, district completion)
- Age-appropriate money-making tips and advice
- Parent dashboard for monitoring learning progress
3. Age Requirements and Parental Consent
3.1 Age Requirements
- Ages 6-12: Parental consent required
- Ages 13-17: May create account with parental notification
- Ages 18+: May use service independently
3.2 Parental Responsibilities
Parents and guardians are responsible for:
- Supervising their child's use of Capital City
- Ensuring accuracy of information provided during registration
- Monitoring their child's learning progress
- Managing subscription and payment information
- Exercising privacy rights on behalf of their child
4. Account Registration
4.1 Account Creation
To use Capital City, you must:
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
- Maintain the security of your password
- Not share your account with others
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
4.2 Guest Mode
You may play Capital City in guest mode without creating an account. However, progress saved in guest mode is stored locally and may be lost if you clear your browser data or switch devices.
5. Subscription and Payment
5.1 Subscription Plans
Capital City offers the following subscription options:
- Free Trial: 7-day free trial (if applicable)
- Monthly Plan: Billed monthly
- Annual Plan: Billed annually (discounted rate)
- Family Plan: Supports up to 4 children
5.2 Billing
- Payments are processed securely through Stripe
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled
- You will be charged at the beginning of each billing period
- Prices may change with 30 days notice to existing subscribers
- All fees are in Canadian Dollars (CAD) unless otherwise stated
- GST/HST will be added where applicable based on your province
5.3 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting support. Upon cancellation:
- You will retain access until the end of your current billing period
- No refunds for partial months/years
- Your game progress will be saved for 90 days in case you resubscribe
5.4 Refund Policy
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you're not satisfied within the first 14 days of your initial subscription, contact us for a full refund. Refunds are not available after 14 days or for renewals.
6. Acceptable Use
6.1 You Agree NOT To:
- Use Capital City for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to hack, modify, or reverse engineer the platform
- Share your account credentials with others
- Create multiple accounts to abuse free trials
- Use automated tools (bots) to play the game
- Copy, distribute, or modify any content without permission
- Upload viruses, malware, or harmful code
- Harass, bully, or harm other users
- Impersonate others or provide false information
- Interfere with the proper functioning of Capital City
6.2 Consequences of Violation
Violation of these terms may result in:
- Warning notification
- Temporary suspension of account
- Permanent termination of account without refund
- Legal action if applicable
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 Our Rights
All content on Capital City (games, graphics, text, missions, quizzes, logos, code) is owned by Capital City or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
7.2 Your License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use Capital City for personal, non-commercial educational purposes. You may not:
- Copy or download content (except for personal reference)
- Distribute or sell any part of Capital City
- Create derivative works based on our content
- Use Capital City for commercial training without permission
8. Educational Disclaimer
Important: Capital City is an educational platform designed to teach financial literacy concepts to children. However:
- Not Financial Advice: Capital City does not provide professional financial, legal, or tax advice
- Educational Only: Content is for educational purposes and may be simplified for age-appropriateness
- Parental Guidance: Parents should supervise and guide real-world financial decisions
- No Guarantees: Following advice from Capital City does not guarantee financial success
- Consult Professionals: For specific financial decisions, consult qualified professionals
9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
9.1 Service "As Is"
Capital City is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
9.2 No Guarantee
We do not guarantee that:
- Capital City will be uninterrupted or error-free
- All content is accurate or up-to-date
- Results or outcomes will be achieved
- Defects will be corrected immediately
9.3 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Capital City and its owners, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill.
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months prior to the claim.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Capital City, its owners, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use or misuse of Capital City
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any laws or rights of others
- Content you submit or post
11. Third-Party Services
Capital City uses third-party services:
- Stripe: For payment processing (subject to Stripe's terms)
- Hosting Services: For platform infrastructure
- Educational Links: May link to external educational resources
We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their practices. Review their terms and privacy policies separately.
12. Termination
12.1 By You
You may terminate your account at any time by:
- Cancelling your subscription in account settings
- Contacting support to request account deletion
12.2 By Us
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if:
- You violate these Terms
- You provide false information
- Your payment fails repeatedly
- We suspect fraud or illegal activity
- Required by law
12.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your access to Capital City will cease
- Your data will be deleted per our retention policy
- No refund for unused subscription time
- Terms that should survive (indemnification, liability) remain in effect
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date
- We will notify you via email or in-app notification
- Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
- If you disagree, you may cancel your account
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
15.3 Waiver
Failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.
15.4 Assignment
You may not transfer your account. We may assign our rights and obligations to another entity.
